The  Side-Pull Bitless Bridle/Halter has the added features of a jowl strap to keep the bridle from twisting during use, a chin strap which is adjustable, a bridle style throat latch and Dee rings on the side hangers.
If you are training your horse to a bitless bridle you can still use a bit with bit hangers. These clip onto the sewn in Dee rings.
The configuration shown is one option. It can be made with the throatlatch more forward and negate the extra jowl strap.
